Gold picked up a renewed head of steam on Tuesday, this a day after US markets reopened after the Labor Day break. By the end of the session, the precious metal gained about $14/ounce, finishing at just under $1340. Silver saw a more modest advance, ending at around $18/ounce. Platinum did not do much, but palladium sold off sharply, losing roughly $20/ounce, but still maintaining the bulk of the strong gains it made last week.
