The bottom fell out from under the precious metals complex on Tuesday, as a confluence of variables came together, triggering the sharp slide. By the close of the US session, gold lost more than 3% and experienced its biggest one-day decline in nearly 15 months, while silver lost more than a dollar an ounce for its biggest tumble since January of 2015. Platinum and Palladium followed as well, with the former plunging to a three-month low and now trading below the $1000 mark.
