Gold fell sharply early in the US session on Thursday,, getting to an intraday low of $1303/ounce at one point, itself a 2018 low. The complex was pressured by a stronger dollar and nervousness about Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell’s remarks during a second day of testimony. As it turned out, Powell’s remarks did not contain anything all that new as he pretty much stayed on script, although he did admit that he did not think that the economy was in danger of overheating.
