Gold was all over the map on Monday, opening higher, then selling off to practically unchanged, before closing up by roughly $7.00/ounce on the day at just under $1295. There were modest gains in the rest of the group as well, with silver closing back over the $17/ ounce mark and platinum and palladium registering modest $5-$7 gains. For much of the day, gold followed the ups and downs of the dollar closely, being at its strongest early in the day when the dollar was at its weakest.
