We saw gold jump more than 1% to an eight-week high on Tuesday, as a sharp retrenchment in the dollar and a modest setback in the US equity markets (triggered by weakness in financial names) both combined to provide an element of support. Silver also finished with a solid gain, although platinum and palladium sat things out.
