Once again, gold remained relatively stuck in place on Thursday, closing pretty much flat on the day and ignoring the stepped-up volatility we saw in both the equity and currency markets. In the case of US stocks, the Dow soared by almost 200 points and erased a substantial part of its recent declines on account of a resounding win for the tax bill in the US House of Representatives. The measure passed with a 22 vote margin despite 13 Republicans joining all the Democrats in opposing it
